Who We Are Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together . We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion. Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work. About the Role: Notion is building the collaborative AI workspace teams use to think, plan, and execute. Our partner ecosystem is a key multiplier for our global revenue engine. As our founding Partner Marketing Manager, you’ll build the co-marketing motion with our partners—designing campaigns that show the combined value of Notion + our ecosystem and turning partner enablement into measurable, partner-driven pipeline. You’ll work in lockstep with Partnerships, Product Marketing, and regional sales leaders to ensure partners can tell the Notion story consistently across channels. This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days. What You'll Achieve: Set and run Notion’s partner co-marketing strategy across resellers, services partners, and strategic technology/AI partners. Launch end-to-end joint campaigns (e.g., webinars, whitepapers, case studies, digital events) that drive partner-sourced and partner-influenced pipeline. Build partner enablement that travels (pitch decks, one-pagers, positioning/competitive guides) so external teams can sell Notion with confidence. Own a clear MDF operating model (intake, prioritization, budget allocation, approvals) and invest in the activations that produce the highest ROI. Track performance and report results using CRM + marketing analytics, tying programs to pipeline and revenue. Skills You'll Need to Bring: Track record building partner/channel marketing programs from zero to repeatable motion, with clear examples and measurable outcomes. Strong campaign and content craft: ability to translate product value into crisp partner value propositions that work across channels. Analytical operating discipline: comfort with pipeline attribution, CRM workflows, and reporting that stands up to revenue scrutiny. Cross-functional leadership and influence across Partnerships, Product Marketing, and Sales; strong judgment in prioritization and trade-offs. AI-fluent working style: uses AI tools to plan, draft, analyze, QA, and scale throughput—while maintaining high standards of craft. Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco or New York City, the estimated base salary range for this role is $235,000-$260,000 per year. By clicking “Submit Application”, I understand and agree that Notion and its affiliates and subsidiaries will collect and process my information in accordance with Notion’s Global Recruiting Privacy Policy and NYLL 144 . #LI-Onsite A Note on AI You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on. Equal Opportunity & Accommodations We hire talented people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you’re excited about this role but don’t meet every bullet, we still encourage you to apply. About the team Special Situations at OpenAI is the company’s commercial engine for its most complex and consequential opportunities. The team operates where new verticals, partnership models, and customer motions must be invented, before a repeatable GTM or delivery playbook exists, by bringing together product, research, engineering, and GTM leaders around a single outcome. Many of these efforts begin as “new bets” (new verticals, new customer motions, new partnership models) and mature into repeatable ways of working that shape how OpenAI operates at scale. The team acts as a force-multiplier for the company by accelerating decision-making, aligning stakeholders, and converting complex opportunities into durable results. About the role We’re hiring a Deal Lead, Special Situations to help stand up new vertical bets, with a particular focus on partnership development in the semiconductor industry. You will identify where AI can create step-change value for semiconductor companies and ecosystem partners, originate and shape multi-project programs with FDEs and applied researchers, package them into compelling commercial proposals, and execute creative, complex partnerships while keeping executives and cross-functional teams tightly aligned. This role is especially focused on building strategic partnerships in semiconductors. You do not need to be a technical engineer, but you do need to be able to speak the language of the semiconductor industry, build credibility quickly with technical and business stakeholders, and come up the learning curve fast on industry dynamics, workflows, and constraints. A key part of the role is crafting deals with semiconductor companies that demonstrate our unique competitive advantages. To do this effectively, you will need to develop a strong point of view on the market, understand the competitive landscape, and clearly articulate OpenAI’s differentiated value and strategic advantage. Special Situations owns the overall success of each program, including commercial outcomes, while functional teams own execution decisions within their domains. You will engage executive sponsors when decisions have org- or company-level implications. You will set direction, build the coalition required to achieve it, structure the partnership, and improve decision quality and velocity. When the work can move without Special Situations, you’ll shift to the next highest-leverage opportunity. In this role, you will: Identify and size high-value partnership opportunities in the semiconductor industry, translating industry pain points into concrete AI-driven commercial theses Map the semiconductor partnership and competitive landscape, including internal AI teams and AI automation startups, and design differentiated partnership strategies that OpenAI can win and scale Learn the language, workflows, and commercial dynamics of the semiconductor ecosystem quickly enough to build trust with both technical and business leaders Work with FDEs and applied researchers to design multi-project programs that combine models, tooling, data, and services into outcomes partners will pay for Define use cases, scope, sequencing, and success metrics that turn ambiguous opportunities into executable programs Create the commercial and strategic narratives (decks, demos, proposals, and deal memos) that align partners, executives, and internal teams around a single plan Articulate why OpenAI is the right partner versus a build-it-internally approach or external AI automation vendors serving the semiconductor market Structure and negotiate non-standard partnerships, including revenue share, royalties, and bespoke commercial terms, through contract signature Drive executive-level alignment and decision-making on tradeoffs, resourcing, and risk You might thrive in this role if you: Have 10+ years in business development, partnerships, corporate development, private equity, or founding roles where you personally drove and closed complex, high-dollar deals from concept through delivery Have meaningful experience in semiconductors or closely adjacent industries, including an understanding of how large companies in the sector buy, partner, and deploy technology Do not need to be an engineer, but can speak credibly with technical teams and learn specialized industry language and concepts very quickly Can take a vague opportunity and turn it into a clear commercial thesis that customers, executives, and technical teams can buy into and commit budget against Can develop a sharp view of the competitive market and persuasively explain why OpenAI is better positioned than internal AI automation efforts or semiconductor-focused AI services startups Excel at building and closing non-standard deals that combine product, services, and long-term strategic value rather than off-the-shelf SKUs Know how to navigate large, sophisticated buyers, align multiple stakeholders, and keep deals moving when no one has full authority or clarity Strengthen decisions by framing commercial and technical tradeoffs early so partners and OpenAI leadership can commit with confidence Maintain momentum as scope, pricing, risk, and partnership structures evolve Create structure and accountability across cross-functional teams so that deals actually convert into delivered outcomes Deliver results without waiting for perfect information, adjusting the commercial and execution path as reality changes Represent OpenAI with credibility and executive presence in customer and partner settings, from first conversation through long-term partnership About OpenAI OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. We push the boundaries of the capabilities of AI systems and seek to safely deploy them to the world through our products. About the Team The Ecosystem Applied AI Engineering team supports strategic partners as they build high-quality technical integrations into ChatGPT and Codex. Our goal is to create products users depend on, drive adoption and retention, and build an ecosystem where partners win when OpenAI wins. About the Role We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to help strategic partners design, build, evaluate, submit, launch, and maintain high-utility plugins for ChatGPT and Codex. This is a hands-on, partner-facing product engineering role for someone who can contribute to the platform itself, lead sophisticated partner engagements, and translate ambiguous product needs into production-ready integrations. You will work across partner product and engineering teams and OpenAI's product, engineering, partnerships, legal, policy, design, and go-to-market teams. You will identify the right use cases, prototype and review implementations, run evaluations, debug issues across systems, guide partners through submission and review, and support launch and post-launch iteration. The best person for this role moves fluidly between code, product judgment, project leadership, and clear communication with engineers and executives. This role is a fit for a product minded engineer who wants to stay close to users and partners while still going deep on code, reliability, evaluations, and developer experience. The goal is to help partners ship plugins that are not merely technically functional, but genuinely useful in ChatGPT and Codex. This role is based in our San Francisco office. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role, you will: Own the technical partner journey for priority B2B plugins—from pitch and readiness assessment through architecture, build, evaluation, submission, launch, and ongoing maintenance. Identify strong plugin use cases, define crisp user journeys and expected behaviors, and help partners focus on workflows where ChatGPT or Codex can create meaningful user value. Write production and sample code, build prototypes and reference implementations, and create the technical guidance, evals, launch checklists, and debugging tools that move partners from concept to production. Debug API contracts, OAuth/login, tool invocation, latency, retries, rate limits, observability, data model, and user-experience issues across partner and OpenAI systems. Review partner architectures and implementation plans for API design, scopes and permissions, data handling, safety, privacy, reliability, and long-term maintainability. Contribute targeted fixes and improvements to ChatGPT, Codex, and the plugins platform, including APIs, SDKs, docs, examples, internal tooling, partner debugging workflows, and launch guardrails. Work with product, engineering, design, partnerships, legal, policy, support, and go-to-market teams to make partner launches smooth and repeatable. Bring structured signal from partners back to product and engineering, and turn patterns from successful launches into reusable playbooks, examples, platform requirements, and implementation guidance. You might thrive in this role if you: Have 4-6 years of professional software engineering experience and are strong enough technically to contribute to the platform itself while still enjoying hands-on coding. Have built and operated production APIs, backend services, developer platforms, apps, plugins, connectors, or integrations and can reason across frontend, backend, auth, reliability, privacy, evaluations, and UX constraints. Bring strong product sense and can distinguish a plugin that “works” from one that will be genuinely useful to users. Communicate clearly with external engineers, product leaders, executives, and internal cross-functional stakeholders. Can make ambiguous partner ideas concrete through runnable prototypes, API contracts, technical specs, and pragmatic implementation guidance. Are comfortable reading unfamiliar code, making targeted platform changes, and debugging distributed systems with logs, traces, metrics, and experiments. Care deeply about user trust, privacy, data handling, and product quality in AI-powered experiences. Balance urgency with judgment and can keep launches moving while staying precise about details that matter. Preferred qualifications: Experience with OAuth/login flows, API design, webhooks, schemas, rate limits, observability, SDKs, and production launch operations. Prior customer-facing or partner-facing engineering experience, including leading technical calls, navigating ambiguity, and helping external teams ship production software. Familiarity with AI products, LLM APIs, tool calling, MCP, ChatGPT or Codex surfaces, developer platforms, or marketplace ecosystems. Comfortable making targeted changes across backend services, frontend surfaces, SDKs, docs, internal tools, or monorepo codebases when needed. Strong written communication skills, including docs, implementation notes, launch plans, and partner-facing technical guidance. Map workflows, shape tools/integrations, and translate requirements into a delivery plan. Shape production deployments that integrate with customer infrastructure, data systems, and engineering toolchains, including export-controlled environments. Partner with Product and Research so platform components and research work streams land in time to support deployment goals. Codify solution patterns and evals. Extract reusable patterns and package field signals to improve product and models. Own value cases and ROI. Set impact hypotheses, baselines, and KPIs; run pre-/post-deployment measurement and report to exec sponsors. Help define how OpenAI engages Semiconductor customers. You might thrive in this role if you: Bring 7+ years of customer‑facing technical delivery leadership. Have deep expertise in Semiconductor workflows, including RTL design, verification, EDA tooling, and physical implementation. Track record of successfully leading large, complex, high-stakes customer engagements where customer outcomes depended on tight coordination and fast decision making, ideally involving AI. Excel in high ambiguity environments. Know how to simplify complex and dynamic work. Move fluidly between system level understanding and execution level detail; can dive into customer workflows/data, map constraints, sketch architectures and move ambiguous problems to shipped systems. Think strategically and pattern-match. Able to step back from execution detail, recognize broader trends across deployments, and connect customer needs to scalable, reusable solutions. Have strong technical fluency and sharp sequencing instincts. Confident discussing technical details, pressure-testing architectures, and making trade-offs. Have shipped AI/LLM systems. You understand solution patterns, integration basics, and production pitfalls. You’re a translator with executive presence. You make complex technical trade-offs legible to business leaders and convert strategy into day-to-day technical execution. Enjoy being onsite with customers to accelerate delivery (often 25-50%, sometimes higher).
