How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us! Figma employees are among the most AI-active in the industry, and our Internal AI team exists to make that energy compound rather than fragment. Sitting within FTS (our Business Technology org), the team owns the shared rails for employee-facing AI: the platforms that lets every Figmate, from sales to recruiting to finance, build and use AI tools that are governed, reliable, and reusable. We're a small, high-leverage team organized around three pillars: Platform & Tooling, Infrastructure & Hosting, and Applied AI Builds. This role anchors the Infrastructure & Hosting pillar. This is the runtime layer everything else depends on. You'll design and build the paved path that takes an internal AI app, bot, or agent from prototype to production: shared hosting and execution infrastructure, model routing that directs each task to the right model based on cost and capability, and the telemetry, audit, and cost-attribution layer that gives our security and finance partners visibility no one at Figma has today. You'll work closely with our IT Engineering team on identity and access patterns, with Security on guardrails for sensitive-data workflows, and with the AI infrastructure teams building Figma's product to share gateways and avoid duplicate layers. This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. What you'll do at Figma: Design and build the hosting golden path for internal AI applications, bots, and agents, including runtime patterns for long-running workflows, scheduled jobs, and agent execution Build the model routing layer that directs tasks across frontier and lower-cost models based on cost, capability, and policy with a full audit trail Stand up observability, usage analytics, audit logging, and per-team cost attribution for AI workloads across the company Integrate identity, access, and security patterns (Okta-connected by default) so every internal AI app is safe on day one, including the sanctioned path for workflows touching customer, financial, or people data Partner with engineers on our product AI infrastructure teams to share gateways and telemetry rather than building parallel systems Help shape the team's platform strategy, roadmap, and engineering best practices as a founding member of the infrastructure pillar We'd love to hear from you if you have: 5+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering A track record of building internal platforms or paved paths that other engineers and teams adopted, not just maintained, with excellent communication skills collaborating across security, IT, and business teams Strong system design skills and experience architecting resilient, observable production systems Hands-on experience with LLM operations: model gateways or routing, agent runtimes, evals, or cost/usage instrumentation Experience with identity and access management in an enterprise environment (e.g., Okta, SSO, secure service-to-service auth) While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have: Experience building internal AI platforms or workspaces (the Ramp Glass / JPMorgan LLM Suite category) or developer platforms at a comparable scale Familiarity with MCP, agent orchestration frameworks, or skill/plugin registry patterns Experience working within audit and compliance programs (SOX/ITGC) or building systems with audit requirements A history of being the first infrastructure hire on a small team, comfortable setting standards from scratch across a broad scope of responsibilities At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles. Pay Transparency Disclosure Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. Figma offers equity to employees, as well as a competitive package of additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage; retirement benefits with company contributions; parental leave and reproductive or family planning support; mental health and wellness benefits; and paid time off. Figma provides paid sick leave, holidays, and other leave benefits in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the requirements of the Washington Minimum Wage Act and related regulations. Exempt employees are eligible for employer‑provided paid flexible PTO in addition to flexible paid sick leave. PTO is subject to manager approval. Additional benefits may include company recharge days, cell phone and home internet reimbursements, and a number of lifestyle spending accounts. Figma also offers sales incentive compensation for most sales roles and an annual bonus plan for eligible non-sales roles. All compensation and benefits are subject to applicable plan terms and may be modified by Figma at any time, consistent with applicable law. Annual Base Salary Range: $153,000 — $269,000 USD At Figma we celebrate and support our differences. We know employing a team rich in diverse thoughts, experiences, and opinions allows our employees, our product and our community to flourish. Figma is an equal opportunity workplace - we are dedicated to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity/expression, veteran status , or any other characteristic protected by law. Figma is building its founding Forward Deployed Engineering team to solve the complex, real-world challenges that emerge when bringing Figma’s products into large-scale enterprise environments and looking for founding Forward Deployed Engineers. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll embed directly with strategic customers, working across their codebases, design systems, developer environments, and workflows to make Figma’s products successful within their unique technical constraints. You’ll tackle the hardest adoption challenges hands-on, from complex frontend stacks and legacy systems to security and access requirements, while building trusted partnerships with customers’ senior engineering teams. This is a senior/staff-level engineering role within Product and Engineering, not a sales or services function. You’ll work directly in customer environments when needed, using the minimum access required. Your goal is smooth adoption by the customer’s product and engineering teams, which means making complex workflows work simply in their environment and solving the underlying problems You’ll do that hands-on, often by writing Figma product code, then turn what you learn into a reusable path for future customers instead of taking permanent ownership of the customer’s codebase. . Working closely with Figma’s Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Experience teams, you’ll help shape both the product and how this brand-new function works and scales. The role is highly collaborative, deeply customer-facing, and built for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, take end-to-end ownership, and want to solve the highest-impact problems at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer needs. This role includes periodic travel to work alongside strategic customers in person. This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. What you'll do at Figma: Make an enterprise design system agent-ready so AI tools generate faithful, on-system code: fix tokens, naming, and guidelines, wire up Code Connect, and run evals. Get Make Local, Code Layers, and our newest products working in a customer’s real environment, writing code, config, agent skills, and guideline files against their systems and ours. Run technical discovery: understand a customer's dev environment, toolchain, and constraints, then scope the fastest credible path to value, in addition to setting the customer up for long term success. Debug hard, unfamiliar integration problems (git workflows, CI, dev-environment setup, non-standard stacks). Build LLM-powered workflows: MCP setup, agent skills, and prompt engineering tuned to each customer’s context. Turn one-off solutions into reusable playbooks and product feedback, so patterns you solve once become self-serve or shipped product. Bring learnings on friction back to Figma's Product and Engineering teams, influence what gets built next, and often build it. We'd love to hear from you if you have: 5+ years shipping production software end-to-end, with meaningful time embedded with customers or partner teams. Excellent customer-facing communication and technical partnership skills, with the ability to build trust with senior engineers and translate customer needs into actionable product and engineering solutions Strong engineering fundamentals and adaptability, with the ability to quickly navigate unfamiliar codebases, languages, and technical environments to deliver production-ready solutions. Hands-on experience with design systems and design-to-code workflows, including component libraries, tokens, documentation, and the tooling that connects design artifacts to production code. Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python, including demonstrated fluency with agentic coding tools (e.g., MCP, agent orchestration). You have hands-on experience integrating APIs and SDKs, troubleshooting toolchains and CI environments, and navigating enterprise requirements such as SSO, security reviews, access controls, data residency, and compliance frameworks. Comfort owning ambiguous technical problems end to end, identifying patterns across customer engagements, and turning field learning into reusable product improvements. While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have: Background in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, professional services, developer experience, or a similar customer-facing technical role Familiarity with developer tools, design-to-code workflows, or AI/LLM products, including tools such as Code Connect, Storybook, Style Dictionary, or comparable technologies Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Experience, Solutions Architecture, or related teams to deliver complex enterprise engagements At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. About the team OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems. We embed deeply with users to solve high-leverage problems. We move quickly from prototype to deployment and surface patterns that shape the platform. We operate at the intersection of customer delivery and core development. We work closely with Product, Research, and Go-To-Market (GTM). About the role We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to build and deploy AI systems for legal work. You will embed deeply with customers—often working closely with senior legal practitioners—to identify the right first use case, rapidly prototype a solution, and prove measurable value. Early engagements may focus on creating a “hero” workflow that shows how OpenAI’s models can support legal analysis, drafting, research, or real-time work with complex case records. You will own the technical work from discovery and proof of concept through production adoption, while translating customer workflows and constraints into clear product feedback. As the motion matures, you will turn successful deployments into repeatable patterns that can scale across larger accounts and the broader legal market. This role is based in San Francisco or New York City. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance. Travel up to 50% may be required. In this role, you will Embed with law firms and legal teams to understand their workflows, identify high-value opportunities, and select the right initial use cases to prove value. Build full-stack systems that deliver customer value and sharpen how we learn Embed closely with customer teams, understand their needs, and guide adoption of what you build Make trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality; adjust plans to protect delivery Contribute directly in the code when progress or clarity depends on it Codify working patterns into tools, playbooks, or building blocks that others can use Share field feedback that helps Research and Product understand where the models succeed and where they can improve You might thrive in this role if you Bring 5+ years of software engineering, ML engineering, or technical deployment experience with customer-facing ownership in financial services or adjacent regulated industries. Have experience with legal technology, legal services, compliance-heavy workflows, or professional services; this is helpful but not required. Have owned complex AI or data-driven systems end-to-end, from scoping through production adoption, in environments where errors carry real financial or regulatory consequences. Write and review production-grade code across backend and frontend systems using Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks. Have deployed systems powered by LLMs or generative models and understand how model behavior, evaluation, and guardrails affect user trust and business outcomes. Communicate clearly across engineering, product, risk, compliance, and executive stakeholders, translating technical trade-offs into decision quality and risk posture. Apply systems thinking with high execution standards, turning incidents, escalations, and failures into improved operating standards and repeatable deployment patterns. Stay calm and decisive when delivery is urgent, ambiguous, and high-stakes. About OpenAI OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. We push the boundaries of the capabilities of AI systems and seek to safely deploy them to the world through our products. AI is an extremely powerful tool that must be created with safety and human needs at its core, and to achieve our mission, we must encompass and value the many different perspectives, voices, and experiences that form the full spectrum of humanity. About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the role Anthropic's RL Data Platform team builds the systems that produce, move, and serve the human data Claude learns from: the interfaces humans use to give feedback, the pipelines that turn raw feedback into training signal, and the tooling researchers use to launch, monitor, and inspect data collection. Every RL run depends on a steady supply of high-quality data - human feedback, expert demonstrations, graded transcripts - and when a researcher has an idea for new data on Monday, our job is to make it collectable by Wednesday and in the training mix by Friday. This is a full-stack, ownership-heavy role on a small, senior team. You'll design and ship web interfaces used by thousands of expert annotators, build the backend services and data pipelines behind them, and work directly with RL researchers to understand what data they need and why. You'll scope your own projects, make architectural calls, and see them through to production. We're looking for engineers who treat researchers as their users, build for reliability first, and care as much about the shape of the data leaving the system as the UI going into it. Key responsibilities Design, build, and operate the feedback and data collection interfaces used by human annotators, domain experts, and internal researchers. Build and maintain the backend services, APIs, and pipelines that route model samples to humans and return structured feedback to training. Own the reliability, latency, and usability of systems that run continuously against live model endpoints. Partner with RL researchers to translate loosely specified data needs into well-scoped collection campaigns and the tooling to run them. Build dashboards, monitoring, and inspection tools so researchers can see data quality and throughput without asking an engineer. Identify and remove the bottlenecks between "we want this data" and "it's in the training mix". Minimum qualifications Strong full-stack engineering skills, with production experience in TypeScript/React on the frontend and Python on the backend. Experience designing and operating backend services and data pipelines that other teams depend on. A track record of owning projects end-to-end, from an ambiguous brief to something in production that people use. Comfort working directly with technical stakeholders whose needs change week to week, and the judgment to push back when something isn't worth building. Effective use of AI tools in your own day-to-day work. Care about the societal impacts of your work. Preferred qualifications Experience building annotation, labelling, evaluation, or other human-in-the-loop data tooling. Experience with RLHF, preference data, or other human-feedback pipelines for ML systems. Experience shipping researcher-facing or other expert-facing internal tools people love: interviewing users, hunting down friction, measurably improving the experience. Experience running experiments on data collection interfaces and using the results to improve data quality. Experience working with crowdworker or expert vendor platforms at scale. Familiarity with how LLMs are trained and evaluated. Representative projects Build an interface that lets a domain expert review a long agentic transcript, flag the step where things went wrong, and write a corrected continuation - with the result landing in a training-ready format. Rework the sampling path between our feedback interfaces and model endpoints to cut time-to-first-sample for annotators. Build a campaign launcher that lets a researcher stand up a new data collection effort (task, rubric, population, quality checks) without writing code. Instrument annotator behaviour to detect low-effort or adversarial work and surface it to the quality team automatically. Design the data model for a kind of feedback we haven't collected before, and ship the pipeline that gets it into the training mix. The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. Annual Salary: $320,000 — $405,000 USD Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this. We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us.
