You will be a member of the GTM leadership team and a visible voice for Anthropic in the startup and venture community, helping ensure that the companies defining the future of AI choose to build it safely, and with us. Responsibilities: Set the multi-year strategy for Anthropic's Strategic Startups business, including segmentation, coverage model, partnership structures, and investment priorities, and secure executive alignment on it Build, lead, and scale a high-performing team of Account Executives, including hiring, coaching, and developing sellers and establishing a strong operating cadence across the team Own the segment's revenue plan and P&L-level outcomes, including forecasting, capacity planning, quota design, and resource allocation, with direct accountability to GTM and company leadership Personally lead Anthropic's relationships with a portfolio of the highest-leverage AI-native startups, engaging founders, CEOs, and CTOs on multi-year commercial, technical, and partnership agreements Design and negotiate novel commercial and partnership structures (credits programs, strategic pricing, co-development, joint go-to-market) that create durable, mutually beneficial relationships with breakout companies Serve as the executive voice of the startup segment inside Anthropic, bringing structured customer and market insight to Product, Engineering, Pricing, and Finance and influencing roadmap and packaging decisions accordingly Partner with Enterprise Sales, Solutions, Partnerships, and Customer Success leadership to define handoffs, shared accounts, and escalation paths as startups scale into enterprise customers Establish the systems of record for the segment: account planning, customer health, executive business reviews, deal governance, and the metrics leadership uses to run the business Represent Anthropic externally with founders, investors, and at industry events, articulating our approach to safe, frontier AI and why it matters for companies building on it Lean in to support building Anthropic's presence across the startup ecosystem. You may be a good fit if you: Have 15+ years of experience in enterprise or technical software sales, with 7+ years leading sales teams Have been a founder or have worked previously as a Business Development leader securing large contracts. Have owned a significant revenue line with full accountability for plan, forecast, and results, and have a track record of consistently outperforming it Have built or materially scaled a sales or account management organization, including designing coverage models, compensation plans, and operating rhythms Bring deep, first-hand familiarity with the startup ecosystem, including relationships with founders, venture investors, and accelerators, and an instinct for identifying which early-stage companies will become the ones that matter Have sold or led sales of technical, consumption-based, or platform products (APIs, infrastructure, developer tools, ML/AI), and are credible in conversations with technical founders and CTOs Have structured and closed complex, non-standard commercial and partnership agreements at the executive level Are a strong cross-functional leader who has influenced product, pricing, and go-to-market decisions well beyond your own organization Are analytically rigorous and comfortable making decisions with imperfect data in a rapidly evolving market Are motivated by Anthropic's mission and care about how frontier AI is deployed, not just how fast it grows Strong candidates may also: Have led a startups or emerging-companies segment at a cloud, infrastructure, or AI platform company through a period of hypergrowth Have founder, operator, or venture experience, and understand the pressures and decision-making of a high-growth startup from the inside Have built ecosystem programs (startup credits, accelerator partnerships, investor programs) that meaningfully drove adoption of a developer platform Have hired and developed leaders who went on to run their own organizations Have experience leading through a market where the product and competitive landscape shifts quarterly The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. About Supabase Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth. About the Role We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Billing team at Supabase. Billing owns the monetization and revenue systems that turn platform usage into accurate customer charges and finance-ready revenue data. The team’s scope includes plans, subscriptions, usage-based billing, invoices, payments, credits, coupons, taxation, dunning, collections, pricing mechanics, entitlements, marketplace and partner billing paths, and integrations with providers such as Stripe and Orb. Billing sits at the intersection of engineering, product, finance, data, support, and partnerships. The systems are revenue-critical and trust-critical: they must remain correct, predictable, supportable, observable, and extensible as Supabase grows and introduces new products, pricing models, and partner channels. This is a people, delivery, and technical leadership role. We don’t expect managers to contribute production code directly, but we do expect you to participate in architecture and design discussions, challenge plans with sound technical reasoning, and set a high bar for correctness, reliability, and operational maturity. What You'll Be Responsible For Team & People Build a healthy, high-trust team culture in a remote-first, globally distributed environment. Run 1:1s, performance management, career development, and onboarding for your direct reports. Coach engineers working across backend application code, data pipelines, external integrations, and operational workflows. Build durable ownership across the team so critical billing knowledge, access, and incident response do not depend on one person. Handle people administration, including leave and time off, for your team. Hiring Own the hiring plan for the Billing team and act as Hiring Manager and first-round interviewer for roles on the team. Partner with Talent Acquisition to source, interview, and close strong candidates with the right mix of billing-domain depth and engineering judgment. Contribute to headcount planning, org design, and the evolution of engineering leadership at Supabase. Delivery, Roadmap & Partnerships Own the Billing roadmap and project management in Linear, driving accountability, clear milestones, and predictable delivery. Balance new pricing and product capabilities with investments in system correctness, resilience, supportability, and technical debt. Manage workflow intake and Slack triage, deciding what should be routed, prioritized, sequenced, or pushed back on. Own weekly updates and keep stakeholders aligned without creating unnecessary overhead. Surface risks, dependencies, tradeoffs, and revenue or customer-impact concerns early and clearly to leadership. Incident Commander Train as an Incident Commander and lead coordination, resolution, customer-impact assessment, and post-incident follow-up. Lead blameless post-incident reviews. You Might Be a Good Fit If You Have 5+ years of engineering background, with enough depth to be credible with engineers building complex systems. Have 3+ years managing remote engineering teams. Have managed a billing engineering team at a cloud, SaaS, or developer tools company. Experience with developer tools or databases is a strong preference, but we'll consider any sufficiently technical background where you can demonstrate the ability to ramp on a new domain. Have managed remote, globally distributed teams that work asynchronously across disparate time zones. Are technical enough to be credible with strong engineers, but genuinely passionate about people management. This is the work you want to do, not a track you're settling for. Build psychological safety and a feedback culture: you give feedback often and in the moment, ask for it back, and create space for the team to do the same. Operate as a multiplier. Focused on helping individuals achieve more than they could alone, not on being the best technical voice in the room. Coach rather than direct. Remove blockers, connect people to context and resources, and trust your engineers to own how the work gets done. Have a real track record of performance management and can speak to specific examples of difficult conversations and how you navigated them. Are comfortable with ambiguity and capable of building structure where there isn't much. Communicate clearly and write well. You're default async, default written, set context proactively, and surface risks early. Are collaborative, low-ego, and adaptable. You thrive working with high-autonomy, senior ICs who have strong technical opinions and don't need to be the smartest person in the room. Relevant Billing Domain & Technical Expertise You should bring experience across most of the following areas: Subscription lifecycle and monetization mechanics: plans and packaging, billing cycles, upgrades and downgrades, proration, upfront and in-arrears charges, add-ons, credits, coupons, discounts, refunds, taxes, dunning, collections, disputes, and chargebacks. Usage-based billing at scale: converting raw product and infrastructure telemetry into billable usage; defining meters and dimensions; applying quotas and pricing; handling late-arriving data; and supporting deterministic reruns, backfills, and reconciliation. Payments and billing-provider integrations: production experience with Stripe, Orb, or comparable providers, including APIs, webhooks, invoice lifecycle, payment failures, event ingestion, sync engines, rate limits, provider SLAs, and graceful degradation during outages. Entitlements and pricing enforcement: separating feature access from charging, managing plan defaults and customer-specific overrides, and designing auditable controls that keep product behaviour consistent with commercial agreements. Cross-functional billing operations: working effectively with Finance, Data, Product, Support, Sales/RevOps, and Partnerships on revenue reporting, customer support, fraud and payment risk, marketplace billing, and new pricing launches. What We Offer Fully Remote We hire globally. We believe you can do your best work from anywhere. There are no Supabase offices, but we provide a WeWork membership or co-working allowance you can use anywhere in the world. ESOP Every team member receives ESOP (equity ownership) in the company. We want everyone to share in the upside of what we’re building together. Tech Allowance Use this budget to set up your ideal work environment—laptop, monitor, headphones, or whatever helps you do your best work. About Anthropic Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. About the Role Anthropic's Safeguards team is responsible for enforcing our policies, protecting users, and ensuring our platform is not misused. As a Safeguards Enforcement Analyst focused on Safety Evaluations, you'll play a central role in ensuring our models meet safety and policy standards before and after launch. You'll run and monitor evaluations, drive mitigations when issues surface, coordinate the creation of new evals, and help build the processes and documentation that allow the team to scale this work over time. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and capable of coordinating across teams to break new ground and drive work to completion. This work is deeply cross-functional — you'll partner closely with policy experts, Safeguards engineering teams, and many other stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure our evaluations are comprehensive and current, and that findings translate into meaningful improvements to model behavior. Responsibilities Support model launch readiness by running evaluations, monitoring and interpreting results, and surfacing regressions or unexpected behavior changes to relevant stakeholders Partner closely with policy and domain experts throughout the evaluation lifecycle — from identifying risks and scoping the right evaluation approach, to coordinating creation of new evals and ensuring existing ones remain current with evolving policies, threat vectors, and model capabilities Work with cross-functional stakeholders to help manage evaluation outcomes, including interpreting results and driving mitigations where needed Think strategically about eval quality to build processes and eval paradigms that keep evaluations unsaturated, high-signal, and insightful as models improve Build out processes and frameworks for creating product-specific evaluations as Anthropic's product surface area expands Help design and scope tooling improvements that accommodate evolving eval needs and expand self-serve eval creation and iteration for non-technical users Write and maintain rigorous documentation for evaluation creation, execution, and interpretation as the team builds out eval tooling and processes You may be a good fit if you: Have experience in trust and safety, content operations, policy enforcement, or a related operational role at a technology company Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments — you're energized rather than frustrated when the path forward isn't clearly defined and you need to figure it out as you go Have experience building processes, workflows, or programs from scratch (zero-to-one work), not just maintaining existing ones Have strong program management instincts, naturally creating structure around complex, multi-stakeholder efforts by tracking timelines, dependencies, and deliverables to keep work on track Are eager to expand your technical toolkit, including adopting internal tools and AI-assisted workflows (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate your work Can manage multiple concurrent workstreams across different domain areas without losing track of details — strong prioritization and context-switching are essential when deadlines and priorities shift quickly Are a strong generalist comfortable moving fluidly across different types of work and switching contexts throughout the day Are comfortable making judgment calls with incomplete information and escalating appropriately when needed Communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and cross-functionally Strong candidates may also have: Experience operating under tight, high-stakes timelines — such as product launch cycles, incident response, or regulatory deadlines — where information and priorities can shift with little notice Experience coordinating across engineering, policy, and product teams to translate findings into concrete action Experience building and maintaining SOPs, runbooks, and operational documentation in fast-changing environments Proficiency with data tools (SQL, dashboards, spreadsheets) sufficient to maintain and improve workflows Comfort working with sensitive content areas as part of eval creation or enforcement review responsibilities The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team. Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings. How we're different We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Come work with us! Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
